Surgical Center of Treasure Valley

Treasure Valley Hospital

Boise, Idaho

August 2023

33,000 SF

Challenge:

Treasure Valley Hospital aimed to expand its surgical capacity to better serve the growing community and enhance access to state-of-the-art care. However, the hospital faced the challenge of a constrained lot, which required a strategic approach to ensure easy access to the surgery center.

Solution:

The design team worked with Treasure Valley Hospital leadership and MedDevelopment to determine the project goals and to maximize the lot footprint. The 33,000 SF ground-up ambulatory surgery center included six operating rooms, 28 patient prep and recovery bays, an observation unit with four private patient rooms, a pharmacy, a physical therapy room, and shell space for two future operating rooms. Prefabrication construction of the pre/post operating rooms allowed construction on these spaces to continue without interruption, without causing schedule delays. The facility features a timeless design with an exterior color palette that highlights the valley’s natural landscape and pulls in warm wood accents to create a welcoming aesthetic.
