Expanding and modernizing a rural healthcare facility comes with unique considerations. For Labette Health’s Independence Healthcare Center, the goal was to enhance clinical services and patient experience while preserving the approachable, community-focused character of the existing facility. Balancing this modernization effort with the client’s desire to retain some original furniture and design elements required thoughtful integration. Additionally, minimizing disruption to ongoing care was critical throughout construction.
