Challenge:

The University of Kansas Health System desired a new clinic to meet the needs of the growing patient population and expand its clinical footprint in the metropolitan area. The design team was tasked with creating an upscale outpatient clinic that prioritizes flexibility, high-quality care, and aesthetically pleasing design in the heart of a thriving retail development.

Solution:

Innovation and patient experience were central to the design team’s approach to the outpatient facility. Retrofitted from former retailers to a state-of-the-art outpatient clinic, it features high-end finishes and biophilic elements to create a soothing environment for patients. The 11,700 SF facility houses 27 exam rooms, a blood draw area with four bays, and a therapy gym. All clinical functions are located off the main lobby, and a one-way patient flow mitigates infection and promotes ease of wayfinding. Corbin Park features modular wall systems throughout, allowing maximum flexibility to remain responsive to the community's evolving needs and dynamic healthcare landscape.
